Welcome to the online home of OERTHER VINEYARD, producer of distinctive premium Michigan Riesling wines.  OERTHER VINEYARD plans to release its first wine in the fall of 2012.  This first wine is a fine and delicate Riesling produced in the tradition of a classic Mosel Valley Spatlëse from the very promising 2010 vintage.

I am Charles Shaw, the Proprietor of OERTHER VINEYARD.  Formerly, I was the founder of the Charles F. Shaw Vineyard & Winery in the Napa Valley (About Charles Shaw).  I have many years of experience as a Napa Valley Vintner, managing prime vineyards and producing premium estate bottled wines.  As an experienced vintner I look forward to the new opportunities that Michigan offers in producing distinctive Rieslings along its beautiful West Coast.

My new vineyard is named in honor of my ancestors, the Oerthers who immigrated to the United States from the area of Germany now known as the Upper Mosel Valley and Alsace-Lorraine (About Oerther).  The wines from this region are the inspiration for my Michigan Rieslings.
